The Story of Kardemumma

Born 1969 to Finnish Immigrants in Mount Isa, Elisa grew up surrounded by the rugged and arid beauty of the Selwyn Ranges, the warmth and richness of her parents’ cultural heritage and a diverse cross culture that was an Australian mining town in the 1970’s.

Her early world was coloured by the way light lay across the ochres of the land, watching the sway of the spinifex in the breeze, the dust caught in the sunlight rising from cattle trains on station roads and immersed in the classic and timeless designs of Finnish aesthetics.

Focusing on raising a family coupled with a career in the Mining and Minerals Industries in the North of Queensland, Gulf Country and recently the Victorian Mallee, photography took a backseat.

With changes in the rhythm of life, in 2023 picking up a camera again, she has found her first love again.  Self-taught and thoroughly in love with light, she is off on a journey exploring pretty much everything she can see in a view finder.
